Historical and Literary Expressions of the Government of Virgilio Barco (1986-1990) in News of a Kidnapping
Keywords:
Virgil Barco, Colombian history, Text analysis, News of a KidnappingAbstract
In this work, we seek to analyze the historical reconstruction of the period of Virgilio Barco’s Government, based on the configuration made by Gabriel Garcia Marquez in his literary report News of a Kidnapping (1996). To do this, the theoretical conception of Mieke Bal will be taken into account, which consists of applying the notion of internal and external retrospections. This resource makes it possible to differentiate which ideas are typical of the fictional material found in the same story, as well as which are those that are foreign to it, but that allow a global understanding of the aforementioned context.
