This article belongs to the field of literary studies. Through an approach through mythocriticism, the stories “El carcinoma de Siam” by Ignacio Padilla (2010), “Donde la suma depende de la resta o el hallazgo de una propuesta faltante” by Vizania Amezcua (2004) and “Un buscador familiar” by Cecilia Eudave (2019), to account for the validity of a mythical substratum in these three contemporary narrators. We proceed by recognizing the general aspects of the myth or mythemes indicated by Durand (1993), and then review the fundamental aspects that intervene in the codification of the mythical language highlighted by Jiménez Sánchez (1987) for the syntax of the myth of fratricide.
