Abstract

The novel Al filo del agua (At the edge of water), by Agustín Yáñez, is one of the foundations of the new age of Mexican novels. This article exposes with punctual examples the narrative techniques applied in this narrative piece, with the purpose of examine the creative process of the author, one coming from the lectures of William Faulkner, Franz Kafka, Ernest Hemingway, John Dos Passos and James Joyce, always referred, but never followed as blueprints.
