The Metaphor: A Poetic Universe in “La mujer”, a short story by Juan Bosch

In Juan Bosch’s short story writing, brutality is represented through symbolic subjects that are related to the methaphorical universe described by the author. In Bosch’s narrative, its construct underlines the weak social and political structures of the Dominican Republic of the XX Century. The profound lyricism narrative in “La mujer” (The Woman), shows an adverse landscape setting which gives structural support to the plot. For example, the presence of the sun as lyrical expression trascends the characters to death. Thus, the sun represents the targeting almighty character which under the metaphor strongholds unveils the social reality of Dominican Republic. Beyond the Dominican outrage, the metaphor is based on the myth of universal transcendence.
