Algunos desafíos y riesgos de la bioética en el siglo XXI

Al iniciar el segundo cuarto del siglo XXI, el acelerado desarrollo biotecnológico consolida a la bioética como una disciplina transdisciplinar esencial para articular las ciencias de la vida con los valores morales. Su relevancia se sustenta en tres dimensiones: el deber de formular respuestas teóricas rigurosas ante el dinamismo tecnocientífico, la oportunidad de integrar ciencias y humanidades mediante la deliberación prudente y el desafío de educar para una convivencia planetaria responsable. Sin embargo, estas dimensiones se encuentran amenazadas por desviaciones conceptuales, metodológicas e institucionales que pueden debilitar su capacidad transformadora. Entre ellas destacan la dilución de su campo de acción, la insuficiente formación en filosofía moral de sus operadores, la precarización profesional y la sustitución de la deliberación por procedimientos burocráticos o rigideces jurídicas, lo que sitúa a la disciplina entre el dogmatismo y el relativismo radical. Partiendo de que la verdad en la bioética aplicada no es un absoluto inmutable, sino una construcción intersubjetiva basada en consensos racionales y contextuales, este artículo examina estos riesgos y sostiene que derivan del abandono del deber teórico, el diálogo transdisciplinar y el compromiso ético-normativo que exige el mundo contemporáneo.
