In his non-fiction novel Asesinato (1985), Vicente Leñero tells the real story of the double murder of the nayarita politician Gilberto Flores and his wife, the writer Asunción Izquierdo, as well as the life of their grandson Gilberto Flores Alavez, considered the main suspect of said crime. Backed up with official, journalistic and family documents, this non-fiction novel is also consdiered a story that unmasks how truth is hidden in police systems, as well as political interests and false moral values of mexican society. In this paper, carnavalized literature aspects present in the novel are analyzed, supported by Mijaíl Bajtín’s theory: Menippean and grotesque elements prove that, although real, the main character is immersed in a carnavalesque reality.Downloads
