Studies on lay conceptions about conflicts and other related constructs
Keywords:
Conceptions about conflicts, Lay conceptions, Interpersonal conflicts, Lay theoriesAbstract
In order to make a first approximation to an understanding of the lay conceptions about conflicts, a
review of the academic literature was carried out, identifying field studies in this regard. It begins by
making a very general brief allusion to the theoretical conceptions about conflicts, as they have been
identified by specialists in the areas of psychology and education. Secondly, some research on
related constructs (conflict frames, perceptions, beliefs and social representations of conflicts) is
mentioned in order to highlight some similarities and differences. Next, the results of the empirical
investigations referring to lay conceptions about the conflicts that were identified are synthesized.
Finally, the main findings in this regard are summarized, indicating some possible future lines of
research.
