Zapatista hero´s journey: Subcommander Marcos from a narratological perspective.
Keywords:
Zapatism, Narrative, Hero, PlotAbstract
Mediatic success of Zapatism in Chiapas and its politic purpouses had repercussions related to narrative experience that can be found in cinema; from this hypothesis it has been studied the zapatista phenomenon, especially the case of Subcommander Marcos, its most iconic figure, from the approach of the so-called “hero´s journey”, a fundamented narratological theory by Joseph Campbell and Christopher Vogler. An approach to zapatista movement from this focus offers many opportunities to understand how conflicts develop in a more attractive way for mass media in order to expand an idea.
