Between the Possible and the Real: Autonomous Art as a Utopian Horizon
Keywords:
Autonomy, Art, Utopia, Critical TheoryAbstract
This study examines the concept of autonomy in art and its critical function against the commodifying logic of capitalism. It demonstrates how artistic autonomy generates a glimpse of utopia —a projection of what-could-be— that opens a horizon for critique and transformation. Drawing on the ideas of Kant, Adorno, and Bloch, it argues that artistic autonomy resists commodification and establishes a space of active resistance against dominant power structures. This analysis is grounded in the tradition of critical philosophy, where the theoretical interaction between these thinkers elucidates how artistic autonomy fosters a transformative vision of culture.
