The "Contrapoder" in Latin America. Marginal reflections about an ethical power

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to theoretically delimit the "Contrapoder" category of Joaquín Sánchez Macgregor and to reflect on its scope and limits in the construction and transformation of power into moral power. To do this, we reflect on the author's analysis of his proposal, based on two important social movements for his time and for ours: Student Movement General Strike Council (CGH) of 1999 at the UNAM and the armed uprising of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN). Finally, the relevance of continuing to think the proposal of Contrapoder from other Latin American categories that seek the radical transformation of oppressive power from an ethical horizon, to build alternative common spaces from which to fight against violence and abuses of power is reflected
