Abstract

This article analyzes the narrative complexity of the film We Need to Talk About Kevin (Lynne Ramsay, 2011), which is based on Lionel Shriver’s novel (2005). The aim is to demonstrate that the relationship between these two cultural products is shaped by a category we refer to as “transposition of relative proximity.” From this conceptual framework, we identify several elements that determine the degree of similarity or divergence between the two.
