Democratization of science... and of techno-science?
Keywords:
Technoscience, Democracy, Public Domain, Scientific Production, DemocratizationAbstract
When we talk about the “democratization of science” we talk about the inclusion of citizens in
decision-making processes on scientific matters, based on the assumption that changes in scientific
and technological matters end –in the last instance– affecting all members of a society, so the scientific and technological field becomes a matter of public order. The objective of the present work
is to try to define what would be a “strong” model of democratization of science and not to settle for
trying to interfere with the citizen only in a patronizing and uncritical way. Starting from this strong
model, the production called "technoscience" will be approached, trying to conclude if a strong
model of democratization of science will also be compatible for this famous technoscientific
production.
