Abstract

In the following work, the story “El pavilion del rest” (2009) by Amparo Dávila is analyzed, based on
two situations expressed in the story: the first examines the relationship of the character with the
symbol of the house; the second, the emotional decay of the protagonist and the situation of despair
that leads to a disastrous outcome. Within the first analysis, an intratextual approach is elaborated
with two other stories by the writer from Zacatecas; "Oscar" (2009) and "The Last Summer" (2009) to
develop the interpretive character of the home. In the second moment, the concept of "despair" is
taken, based on the authors Toro-Tobar, Grajales-Giraldo and Sarmineto-López (2016) to later
explain from Psychology the disastrous outcome of Angelina, its protagonist. The symbolic
characteristics and the psychological condition of davilian characters are recurrent literary figures
throughout his narrative.
