Peer Review Policy

Sincronía applies an academic peer-review system using the double-blind peer review model, with the aim of ensuring the scientific quality, objectivity, impartiality, and academic relevance of manuscripts submitted for publication.

Once a manuscript has been received, the editorial team conducts a preliminary review to verify that the contribution is consistent with the journal’s aims, thematic scope, editorial guidelines, and ethical standards. Compliance with the formal submission requirements is also reviewed, and the originality of the manuscript is verified using specialised similarity-detection tools.

Manuscripts that successfully pass this initial stage are sent for external review by at least two specialists in the relevant field of knowledge. Throughout this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain concealed, thereby ensuring confidentiality and reducing potential academic, institutional, or personal bias.

Reviewers will issue a reasoned assessment taking into consideration, among other aspects:

  • Originality and relevance of the contribution.
  • Clarity and coherence of the research objectives.
  • Theoretical and methodological soundness.
  • Analytical and interpretative rigour.
  • Relevance of the sources and references used.
  • Contribution to the field of literary studies, linguistics, or related disciplines.
  • Quality of the writing and academic structure of the manuscript.

As a result of the review process, the reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted without modifications.
  • Accepted with minor modifications.
  • Accepted with major modifications.
  • Resubmit for a new review once the required corrections have been made.
  • Not accepted for publication.

When the reviewers’ reports present substantial discrepancies, the journal may request the intervention of a third reviewer, whose opinion will contribute to the final editorial decision.

The final decision regarding the publication of manuscripts rests with the Editorial Board, taking into consideration the results of the academic peer-review process and compliance with the journal’s editorial policies.

All participants in the review process must act in accordance with the principles of confidentiality, academic integrity, objectivity, transparency, and respect for good editorial practices.
