Jesuit Pedagogy of Religious Women between Sixteenth and Nineteenth century: from the Ursulines to the Society of Sacré Coeur

In this work we shall analyze the historical evolution of applicating Jesuits instruction to modern female education.
Our journey to educational and historical matters focus on the following religious congregations: the ursulines, the congregation of Nôtre Dame, the Company of Our Lady Mary, the order of Saint-Cyr and the Society of Sacred Heart. Each congregation shows a stage of applicating Jesuits pedagogy during several historical times: the centuries XVI, XVII, XVIII y XIX, and their ideological peculiarities which each one identify with, as to their historical and social changes. The first stage basically concerns to Jesuits pedagogy adaptation on female education (ursulines, Nôtre Dame and the Company of Our Lady Mary); the second shows a development of Jesuits pedagogy according to Port Royalist instruction which shapes it, based on Cartesian and Racionalist method guidelines; the third involves a full development of the Jesuitic and Port Royalist pedagogy on the Society of Sacred Heart, founded by Saint Madeleine Sophie in 1800, who reach to equate the studies level in her colleges with the male institutions of undergraduate teaching during the nineteenth century.
