Juan Villoro’s imaginary chronics of Tiempo Transcurrido: a generational soundtrack

This is a review about the musical context, overall the rock and roll, that appears in the 18 short stories (imaginary chronicles) of Tiempo Transcurrido (1986), by the Mexican writer Juan Villoro. Through the theoretical guidelines and premises about short fiction stablished in three studies by Lauro Zavala (1993, 1994, 1999), I remark the permanent relationship between music and literature in Villoro’s stories, and its references; everything into a generational context which every short story alludes, refers directly, or takes a music background. The scenario is the same, year by year, from 1968 until 1985: Mexico City.
