National Strike: The Grievance Memorial for the Duque government.
Keywords:
Protest, Economy, Politics, Institutionality, SocietyAbstract
Colombia has already completed more than two months since the first call to protest, in
April 2021, to request the withdrawal of the Tax Reform: Sustainable Solidarity Law. To
understand the reason for the discontent and the continuity of a strike that has set a precedent in the current history of Colombia due to its consistency and convening power, it
is necessary to take a look at the context in which this response emerged from the
population. This is how this writing aims to identify the possible causes of the social
outbreak, from four key axes: economy, politics, institutionality and social conditions, since
the beginning of the government of Iván Duque, and its gradual precariousness to the
present moment.
