Abstract

The purpose of this work is to raise the need to consider the declaration of life satisfaction made by
older adults in Mexico, as an essential element for the design of public policies, in such a way that it
is seen as a fundamental instrument for the proposal of policies focused not only on this age group,
but on the entire population. Educational, health, economic policies and, in general, social
development policies should consider this construct, which is part of subjective well-being, as a
substantial and not isolated element, which outlines aspirations but also social and health states in
general. older adult population. Based on the National Study of Health and Aging (ENASEM) in its
2018 round, the states of life satisfaction of this age group in Mexico are described. Although there is
a high life satisfaction of Mexican older adults, it is crucial to investigate what are the determining
factors of this declaration and that they were considered as a basis in decision-making of public
actions focused on improving the quality of life of the elderly. mexican population.
