The world of Mexican bandits on paper: Banditry in the second half of the 19th century.
Keywords:
History, Society, Banditry, ArchiveAbstract
The figure of the bandit is studied through the premise associated with the fact that his activity is justified because he steals from the rich to give to the poor and, because of that, he becomes a hero for society. The proposals of the following work are to analyze archival documentation, compare the characteristics of the social bandits suggested by various authors and, finally, describe how the specific experiences of a place and time generated bandits who did not seek a benefit for others, but a retribution for the years of transformations that were happening in the country.
