Abstract

On her narrative essay “La casa paterna”, the author Teresa González Arce creates a symbolic connection between the childhood home and the paternal figure. The narration takes place in a set of memory and fabulation that articulates the symbolic connection of “home and father” to different levels. This way, the narrator uses such connection to explain her relationship with her father and also, she uses it to explain his father relationship with his own family. At the end, remembering the repairs of the house expresses her efforts to restore the experiences next to her paternal figure and to reconcile with the tragedy of his destiny.
