The existence of qualia: A critical presentation.
Keywords:
Philosophy of mind, qualia, Daniel Dennett, Mary’s room argumentAbstract
The main purpose of this article is to provide the reader with a brief approach to qualia. The usefulness of this undertaking is to provide a basic text in Spanish on some of the polemics that surround this concept. To this end, the paper critically analyzes the question of its existence through two parallel debates. The first corresponds to Dan Dennett's attempt to demonstrate the incoherence of the concept of quale as presented by dualists. Secondly, the debate between Frank Jackson and Paul Churchland regarding the former's Mary's room thought experiment is introduced.
