Abstract

The cinematographic product The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Francis Lawrence, 2013), in its narrative composition, suggests a contextualization and a reconfiguration of meaning towards the films corresponding to the genre of: young adult dystopia. By virtue of this approach, we consider that the film functions as a treatise on social criticism, which constitutes its significant foundation in a certain notional system, supported by certain concepts such as: politics, technology, class, among others. For this reason, the objective of this article is to analyze the sign configuration of the character Katniss Everdeen as a representation of social stabilization, constituted in the audiovisual text The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013). The study of these productions of meaning were reviewed, mainly from the semiotic postulates of Eco (1972 and 1977). Specifically, the Reformulated Semantic Model (MSR) of the semiosist allowed us to observe the relevant covetous elements, which were manifested in the selected frames. of the movie. These elements made up our text.
