Abstract

Ernesto Laclau's thought regarding the political is the core of interpretation of the text. With the closure of the class struggle, capitalism considers it to have triumphed, since its classical opponent, that is, the proletariat, has ceased to be relevant. However, other subjects appear in the fight against capitalism and its relations, they activate the political in both protest and resistance. In this sense, the objective of the text is to question the triumphalism of the existing hegemony. On the other hand, it has been possible to understand that the political can be neutralized in a society, but not erased. Likewise, Laclau's theoretical approach is pertinent to think about the historical and political present, a time in which subjects try to build their lives, although capitalist hegemony insists on underestimating their capacities and desires.
