Abstract

University museums play a fundamental role in education and cultural dissemination within higher education institutions. These spaces offer the university community and the general public the opportunity to explore, learn and appreciate various disciplines and themes through exhibitions, collections, and educational activities. Based on academic evidence, this article analyzes the importance of university museums and their contribution to the comprehensive training of students, based on a qualitative methodology using the semi-structured interview technique aimed at the staff of the university museums MUSA, Environmental Sciences and of Medicine of the University of Guadalajara, having as categories of analysis: university museums as multidisciplinary learning spaces, the role of university museums in academic research, the social function of university museums found among the main findings that university museums They face challenges in their work to disseminate science and scientific culture. However, through proper management, strategic collaborations, and the implementation of innovative programs, these museums can significantly contribute to the dissemination of scientific knowledge and foster interest in science in society.
