From essay to novel. The autofictional processes of false roles and the weightless ones of Valeria Luiselli

Abstract

This paper analyzes two books of Valeria Luiselli, Papeles falsos (2010) and Los ingrávidos (2011) . Although they belong to different literary genres and examines diverse topics in relation to each other, both of them are part of the same writing project. By confronting both texts, the autofictionals processes will be described to propose a thought on the communicating vessels between them. The generic limit of the books will also be presented, as the author merges the novel, the essay, the autobiography and the diary. This approach will help making a consideration about the type of writing that Luiselli composes, in which the writer's self is central, both in the book classified as fiction and in the self-referential one.
