Linguistic coding of the INFIDELITY event. Analysis of verbal and nominal constructions in Mexican Spanish
Keywords:
Operational linguistics, Conceptual characterization, Linguistic construction, Linguistic technique, Linguistic codingAbstract
The central aim of this work is to analyze the linguistic techniques that Mexican Spanish uses to configure the INFIDELITY event, that is, how Mexican Spanish linguistically encodes the INFIDELITY event. This article is part of a broader investigation, here we focus only on two techniques that Mexican Spanish uses to encode said event, namely, verbal and nominal constructions. The analysis is made using operational linguistics, according to which the primary function of languages is the communication of meanings, where each of them expresses them in a different way, making use of its own structures and techniques, as well as of the creativity of their speakers when using them. For this study we use a heterogeneous corpus taken from magazine articles, literary texts and everyday colloquial speech, among others. With this article we intend to contribute to studies in semantics, linguistic variation and other topics concerning linguistics in general.
