The figure of the ghost as a motif for the fantastic in two short stories by María Elvira Bermúdez

This paper approaches part of the literary corpus from the writer María Elvira Bermúdez, specifically her incursion on the fantastic genre. In order to do so a review of two short stories by the Mexican writer, “El regreso” and “El inútil velorio”, is presented, focusing on the figure of the ghost, as well as its possible symbolic meaning around the idea of the return. Such task was done under the aimed reading technique, which allows a deeper approach to specific elements of a short story.
