Through this work, the results of the musicological research that aims to rescue the music of the composer José Sosa Chávez (1912-1995) are shared, which for the first time a list and classification of his creative work is carried out, based on a biographical line that starts from his musical training at the Orfeón Pio X and the Official School of Sacred Music of the Archdiocese of Michoacán in 1922 as well as his time in San Luis Potosí (1927-1931), Mexico City (1931-1937), Navojoa (1937-1940) and Hermosillo (1940-1995). As a result, a total of 137 popular songs have been found (for voice and piano with lyrics created by the same composer, whose themes range between love, heartbreak, playful texts, impressions inspired by Sonoran landscapes, tributes to historical figures and institutions through of hymns articulated by a natural and spontaneous rhyme). 78 sacred works. 65 for solo piano. 25 school works for voice and piano. 23 for organ solo. 14 for rhythm organ. 10 in Western musical forms (sonatina, impromptu, fantasy, string quartet). 11 radio commercials. 9 musical arrangements of works by other authors. 7 pieces to set school plays to music with an original libretto by the same author.
