The tragic religious worldview in Pablo by Juan José Arreola
Keywords:

The present work attempts to define the nature of the tragic religious worldview implicit in
the story "Pablo" by Juan José Arreola. This worldview, from our perspective, is based on
Max Scheler's idea of God and on the more personal inventiveness of the author of Confabulario. To do so, we initially defined what Max Scheler understands by God, taking as
a reference the book The human place in the cosmos and the study "The philosophical
pantheism of Max Scheler" by the scholar Ureña Pajarito. Afterwards, the ideas of the
german philosopher are contrasted with the content of "Pablo" and thus the similarities and
differences with respect to what was proposed by Scheler are deduced. Then the elements
of the remarkable inventiveness of Juan José Arreola are revised. Finally, the nature of the
tragic religious worldview implicit in this tale is described.
