Keywords:

Antonieta Rivas Mercado was a woman who works to build herself as an intellectual through cultural
and political activities, but, especially, through her writing. She write essays and ficción as well where
she developed ideas around feminism, hispanisim, and her idea of revolution. This article proposes,
through intellectual history, to analyze Antonieta ́s work revaluing in his personal and cultural
context, but also on the frame of a bigger intellectual debate in the post-revolutionary Mexico. Her
ideas were against the institutionalized revolution that the Plutarco Elias Calles government
promoted, so that ́s why Antonieta participated in the contradictions and polarizations that
circulated in the intellectual sphere of her time.
