Abstract

This work aims to identify the meaning of proper names in family discourse, from an onomastic semantic perspective, primarily based on the theories of Yolanda López Blanco and Luis Fernando Lara. To achieve this, the concepts of familect and sociolect, as defined by Albert Álvarez González and Benítez-Berraco & Felíu-Arquiola respectively, are essential. It is proposed that the speaker alters the meaning of the name through a process of resemanticization as a result of social practices within the private sphere, driven by what is commonly referred to as “carrilla” or teasing of others.
