This essay addresses Max Horkheimer’s analysis and critics of the bourgeois thinking and its political philosophy. That analysis focuses on Horkheimer’s Critical Theory early development in the 20’s and 30’s, before his exile in the United States caused by the Nazi Party arrival to power in Germany. During this time period he improves the main concepts of his thought, such as Critical Theory and its opposition to traditional theory, and bourgeois philosophy. The paper reviews furthermore the influence of philosophers as Marx, Mannheim and Husserl on Horkheimer early Critical Theory.
